About our school

Buxted Primary School is a Church of England Primary School for children aged 4+ to 11. The number on roll is currently 100. The school is situated approximately half a mile out of the village of Buxted on the Uckfield Road. It occupies a large and pleasant site with picturesque views of the surrounding countryside.
The main building dates from 1857 and includes three classrooms, a library, ICT Suite and a resource room. This was extended in 1997 to provide a staffroom and children's toilets.
The school now also boasts a magnificent extension, opened in July 2002. This includes a superb hall; two purpose built Key Stage 1 classrooms, with a shared activity area in between; a state of the art school kitchen; spacious new offices; an enlarged playground and a new reception area, with a ramp for disabled usage.
The new building can be seen on the left, as it looks from the field. The whole school is now on one site for the first time in well over fifty years and offers a high level of security for children.
It is almost impossible to remember how difficult the two years preceding the completion of the new building were but the aerial view on the right, showing the site as it used to look, is a useful reminder of what has been achieved!
